Kelsey Christensen-Abel

Kelsey Christensen-Abel has worked in education and public affairs for over 10 years and recently returned to college to pursue a career as a school counselor. Kelsey currently attends South Puget Sound Community College, where she was selected for the 2023 All-Washington Academic Team. Through SPSCC, Kelsey participated in the 2023 IDEAL fellowship and the DEIB Coaching Pilot. Kelsey currently owns a public affairs support company and serves on the Olympia Education Foundation Board of Trustees. She helped create their Mental Health Initiative (MHI), which she currently chairs, serves on their Diversity, Equity, and Belonging Committee, and has been a part of the Executive Committee for over 5 years. Her plan is to put her commitment and enthusiasm for educational equity and accessible mental health to work as a middle school counselor while advocating for systemic policy change. Kelsey was born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and has lived in Brooklyn, New York, Dominica, West Indies before moving to Olympia, Washington, in 2013. She currently lives there with her husband, two boys, and a crazy dog.
