Marcell Richard

Marcell Richard is a first-generation biochemistry student pursuing a B.S. at Portland State University. He is a student parent and peer mentor that has helped students with overarching experiences since 2020. With a passion for individual and institutional change, Marcell is working toward a career in forensic sciences. His goal is to mentor students with overarching experiences that are interested in the discipline to better reflect and represent our population.

Marcell is an NIH Build EXITO research scholar, Phi Theta Kappa member, Portland State University Honors member, and SACNAS event coordinator. He has a passion for connecting thought into practice as he strives to initiate radical action. Marcell’s long-term goals include a secondary degree in public policy, pursuing a master’s in biochemistry, and continuing with the IDEAL initiative. His approach focuses on fostering healthy discourse and the preservation of relationships. He believes that connecting over commonalities and what unites individuals is the first step toward radical action and change that contributes to the betterment of subsequent generations and the healing of those in need.
